Overtime (OT)
SPRING: Overtime is not available for regular season games, but is available for the Bowl Weekend.
FALL: Overtime is available for both regular season and postseason games.
Visiting team calls heads or tails.
Coin toss winner has the choice to either 1) take the ball first or 2) go on defense and select which goal to defend.
Each team gets 1 timeout per OT period.
If during a team's offensive series, there is a turnover, the series is over. The turnover cannot be advanced for a score.
An XP is ONLY attempted if required to break a tie.
The ball is placed on the 25-yard line in the 1st and 2nd OT periods (unless relocated by penalty)
Flag (5u)/Tyke (7u)
During the 3rd and subsequent OT periods, both teams alternate conversion attempts from the 5-yard line instead of starting at the 25. This can be a 1-point or 2-point conversion.
Tackle (9u+)
During the 2nd OT period after a touchdown, the team must attempt a 2-point conversion.
During the 3rd and subsequent OT periods, both teams alternate 2-point conversion attempts from the 3-yard line instead of starting at the 25.
Overtime is not "Sudden Death" or determined by "Penetrations." Each team will be given a full and equal opportunity to score.
During the regular season, if the teams are still tied after three OT periods, the game will remain tied.
During the regular season, if a game needs to be called because of light or weather issues"
If a game is tied, the game will remain tied.
If one team had an opportunity and scored, but the other did not have an opportunity, the game will remain tied.
TYFA will handle light and bad weather issues on a case-by-case basis during Spring Bowl and Fall Playoffs.
