Athlete/Volunteer Dress Code
Athlete/Volunteer Dress Code
The TYFA "dress code" aims to create a professional, respectful, and focused environment for all individuals. By setting clear guidelines for appropriate attire, it helps ensure that everyone presents themselves in a manner that reflects the values and standards of the organization. The dress code also aims to reduce distractions, allowing participants to concentrate on their tasks and responsibilities without the concern of inappropriate or uncomfortable clothing. Furthermore, it encourages consistency and unity among team members, fostering a sense of unity, belonging and professionalism. Ultimately, the dress code aims to promote respect, maintain order, and create a positive and productive atmosphere for all involved.
While a volunteer or athlete is free to wear what they wish, they are not free from consequences from violating the Dress Code Policy. It does not matter if a a participant dresses out of compliance the majority of the season and is not caught. Just like speeding, once they are caught, there will be consequences.
Consequences can be game time removal from the game or sideline, and/or additional fines or suspensions after the game.
The Head Coach is responsible for what the other volunteers and athletes are wearing at an officially scheduled TYFA game and will face consequences for any violations.
It is MANDATORY by vote of the Presidents that each team have a HOME and AWAY jersey to ensure clear team distinction and maintain integrity of competition. This will only be enforced in the Fall.
TYFA designates dark-colored jerseys for hosting teams. Visiting teams must wear white or an alternate color jersey that provides a clear contrast to the home team’s jersey. The visiting team’s jersey cannot clash with the home team’s jersey and must have a discernible difference to avoid confusion on the field.
Non-Compliance Penalty:
Grace Period: Teams will have a 30-minute grace period to resolve any jersey compliance issues before penalties are applied.
First Offense: If the issue is not addressed within the grace period, the game will proceed, but the team will be issued a Level II ($200) fine per occurrence. For example, if one team arrives with the wrong jersey, they will be fined $200. If multiple teams from an organization are in violation, the fine will be assessed for each team, which could result in a fine of up to $800 for the organization.
Subsequent Offenses: If a team has a subsequent offense and arrives at the game violating the policy, the game will be declared a forfeit.
Failure to Notify: If a team fails to notify the league of their inability to provide an alternate jersey, they will forfeit all games until the issue is resolved.
