Challenges
Challenges
Challenges replace the "traditional protests" which required investigation that might require games to be replayed at a later date when we do not have time or the resources to do so. In 99% of the cases, games will not be reversed based on a technicality after the fact. Challenges provide the ability for a situation to be proven or not and have an immediate result during the game.
You need to be familiar with WHAT you can challenge, WHERE to find it and HOW the process works.
It if is not done correctly or in a timely manner, you cannot challenge later.

Either you follow these rules correctly and calmly or the Referees DO NOT have to honor a challenge.
Only the Head Coach speaks to the Referees. Assistant Coaches, Board Members and Support Staff do not have a voice in the process.
Excessive arguing, mouthing off or loss of control by the sideline and the Referees will end the challenge, and can throw an Unsportsmanlike (15) on the team.
The Head Coach must PROVE their point by showing the Referees the rule or policy using the volunteer.tyfa.com tool. There is no paper or PDF copy of some old rules that will be acceptable.
The challenge is between the Referees and the challenging Head Coach. There is no debating with the opposing Head Coach.
If a Head Coach declares a challenge and they are proven wrong, they will be penalized a timeout or a Delay of Game (5) if no timeouts left.
If a challenge is proven, the White Hat informs the opposing Head Coach of the result. THERE IS NO NEGOTIATING.
Prior to the game starting, a Head Coach who has an issue with the Size, Markings or Safety of the field should get the attention of the Referees once they come out onto the field.
At that point the Referees should do the Pre-Game Field Check if it has not already been done.
Referees are only required to check this prior to the first game starting. If all is good, it cannot be challenged again. If at least one play is run prior to the request, the field is accepted as is the rest of the day.
If a Head Coach believes that the Referees did not enforce a rule or made an error in the enforcement of a rule such as not giving 2-points for a forward pass XP, they can request to Challenge as long as another play has not yet been run.
The Head Coach gets the attention of the Side Referee and calls for a challenge. The Side Referee stops the game and informs the White Hat.
The What Hat asks the Head Coach to bring up the rule in question on Volunteer.tyfa.com tool and they have two minutes to find it.
If the two (2) minutes expire and the Head Coach has not found the rule, wants to argue without using the tool or is trying to use a paper copy etc., the White Hat will penalize the team a timeout, and if no timeout left, a Delay of Game (5), and will start the game again without any further conversation.
If the Head Coach found the rule on Volunteer.tyfa.com, the White Hat will give the coach 1 minute to prove their case.
The Referees will confer with each other and any monitoring Black Shirt.
If the Referees agree with the proof provided, the situation will be corrected. If they do not agree with the coach, the White Hat will penalize the team a timeout, and if no timeout left, a Delay of Game (5), and will start the game again.
There will be no debating with the opposing Head Coach.
